Recommended by RJ Parry, Accoya wooden windows and doors were the only choice for this project. Coated with a Remmers translucent stain Accoya is not only easy to work but thanks to its stability coatings last longer. Added benefits include superior thermal insulation, meaning heat lost through timber windows and external doors is reduced, keeping this restaurant cosy all year round.

Accoya-Holz wurde ausgewählt, um den Pool der wunderschönen Villa Carat in Cannes, im Süden Frankreichs, zu umfassen.
Für diese 140m2 große Terrasse, die einen herrlichen “Schwimmbad”-Pool umgibt, wurde von Woodstone ProjectAccoya modifiziertes Holz wegen seiner außergewöhnlichen Leistung vorgeschrieben: ökologisch, praktisch verrottungs- und verformungsfrei mit der Wärme von natürlichem Massivholz.
Es ist ein ideales Massivholz an einem Pool, weil es sehr angenehm für den Barfußbereich ist: Es fühlt sich extrem weich an, seine Oberfläche ist splitterfrei und die Terrassendielen überhitzen im Sommer nicht.
Für Terrassen bietet dieses Holz eine echte ökologische Alternative zu Tropenholz und anderen nicht erneuerbaren Materialien. Gemmi Pass, Leukerbad, Schweiz
Terrasse mit Höchstleistung
Das Hotel Wildstrubel liegt hoch auf dem Gemmi-Pass in der Nähe von Leukerbad in den Schweizer Alpen. Das Hotel liegt auf 2350 m über Meer und ist mit einer modernen Seilbahn erreichbar. Es ist ein beliebtes Touristenziel zum Wandern und Bergsteigen im Sommer und zum Langlaufen im Winter. Ein Teil der Attraktion ist die großzügige Accoya-Terrasse, die die Besucher einlädt, sich zu entspannen und die atemberaubende Bergkulisse in Stil und Komfort zu genießen.
Accoya wurde nicht nur wegen seiner anmutenden Ästhetik als echtes Holz ausgewählt, sondern auch wegen seiner beeindruckenden Leistungsfähigkeit, denn Bergklima stellt die für die Terrasse verwendeten Materialien vor einigen Herausforderungen. In dieser Höhe sind die Winter lang und bringen viel Schnee und Temperaturen unter dem Gefrierpunkt mit sich. Diese Bedingungen können andere Terrassenmaterialien stark beanspruchen und zu Rissen führen. Auch die hohe Besucherzahl das ganze Jahr über belastet die Terrasse, insbesondere mit schweren Ski- und Wanderschuhen. Für Accoya sind diese Herausforderungen überhaupt kein Problem: Aufgrund des patentierten Acetylierungsverfahrens ist Accoya-Holz so formstabil, dass es kaum schrumpft, quillt oder sich verzieht und bei allen Wetterbedingungen extrem langlebig ist. It all starts with your front door
If you want to make your house ‘winter ready’, an important step is to invest in a well insulated, beautiful front door.
This may not apply to new-build homes, given the stricter requirements for more energy-efficient construction of new homes, but this story does apply to existing homes.
You could choose to use special insulation materials and draft excluders, but even then you will be surprised how much heat can be lost from around the edges. That is why, in some cases, installing a new front door is a wise choice.

Molenbeek, Belgium
The police station in Molenbeek, Belgium was designed by Architect Emmanuel Bouffioux. It is surrounded by many homes, a school and an events space which includes a football stadium and an Olympic swimming pool. It was therefore essential to take into account the appearance of this police station, creating a building that is aesthetically pleasing for residents.
Designing a building for the local Police that provides services of authority and security proved to be a real challenge in terms of functionality and symbolism. The design had to reflect a strong image to represent the police force, and at the same time it had to be a beautiful building so that the residents of the neighborhood were accepting of it.
Despite the difficulty of such small office space, on a functional level, the design proposed light and flowing spaces. To help achieve this, the architect chose Accoya wood; a sustainable and dimensionally stable material that has been used for the brise soleil. This creates a striking facade on the front of the police station, whilst maintaining privacy.
This project was completed in 2015. This year, 2020, new photographs have been taken to show the natural weathering process of Accoya. Now a beautiful Silver patina can be seen.
